QMT News: May 2010
Good luck needed

Lots of activity  at the moment.- whether in politics, economics or in the climate. Some of which has got better (at time of writing) but who knows these days? Everything seems to be unpredictable. Just when you think things are getting better, we’ve got through the crisis, then, Wham! Something else happens - a volcano erupts and all flights are cancelled.

I bet that exhibition and conference organisers, for example, are all having sleepless nights worrying about visitor attendance, They may have done all the right things, plenty of marketing, good conference and seminar programmes,  planned innovative exhibition themes etc. but this year, and last, there just seems to a lot of bad luck around. Having said that,  this year, so far, has been quite encouraging.. For example, Control 2010, in Stuttgart, Europe’s largest show for the quality technology industries, just finished  and visitor numbers  have held up at 20,000+. As QA/QC technology is a barometer of manufacturing industry, then this augers well. Most major metrology companies were reporting reasonably good figures for the first quarter 2010 and are optimistic about future prospects. Most importantly, these companies maintained their investment in new products and are coming to the market already prepared for innovation and growth.
