Affordable scanning performance

FARO’s Edge ScanArm HD system made its UK debut at the TCT Show at the NEC on September.
The company says that the combination of the all-new FARO Laser Line Probe HD high-definition 3D scanner with the flexibility of the FARO Edge measuring arm  creates an affordable, high performance contact/non-contact portable measurement system.

Visitors to the busy FARO stand were able to witness the compact and easy-to-use system delivering rapid point cloud collection with extreme resolution and high accuracy. The advanced Edge ScanArm HD’s new functions enable users to seamlessly scan across diverse surface materials regardless of contrast, reflectivity or part complexity, without any special coatings or target placement.

FARO Sales Manager, Andrew Tagg said:“ Demonstrations of the new Laser Line Probe HD were in great demand throughout the course of the TCT Show.  As the Edge ScanArm HD delivers high-definition data with extremely rapid speed and surface coverage, potential customers were able to see the benefits of reducing on-site measurement times and improving their processes - at an affordable price. In addition, many visitors to our TCT stand were very impressed by the new FARO product’s ability to scan challenging materials.”

The extra wide scan stripe and fast frame rate of the all-new FARO Laser Line Probe HD can boost productivity by increasing coverage and reducing scanning time. Intricate components can be captured in fine detail as a result of the 2,000 actual points per scanline and the new blue laser featuring noise reduction technology.

FARO says the Edge ScanArm HD is an ideal tool for product development, inspection, and quality control and offers capabilities such as point cloud comparison with CAD, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering, and 3D modelling.

In combination with the all-in-one metrology software CAM2 Measure 10, FARO provides a solution for both contact and non-contact measurement perfectly suited for metrology challenges for a wide range of applications.
