QMT News: December 2014
Vocational training in metrology
Working with City & Guilds, Mitutoyo (UK) has launched a national qualification in dimensional metrology. From January 2015, a City & Guilds Level 2 Award in dimensional metrology will be available from Mitutoyo’s four City & Guilds-approved regional training centres.

After the satisfactory completion of a mandatory core unit covering the fundamentals of dimensional metrology, candidates will then be free to select from a choice of seven units which, after successful completion of any one, results in an award.

There are two general units covering the use of small dimensional metrology instruments and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, plus five specialist units on vision measurement, surface measurement, roundness measurement, contour measurement and contact coordinate measurement.
