First things first. I am delighted to be able to introduce myself as the new editor of QMT. Brendan Coyne has set the bar very high, and as he enjoys his retirement I hope to continue to make QMT the magazine that matters to anyone in the world of quality, metrology and testing.
I certainly seem to be joining the magazine at a good time. Here in the UK manufacturing is booming, and the signs are that this renaissance is also starting to spread through Europe. Certainly the US and the Far East are looking to be on an upward curve.
There is a lot going on and a lot to look forward to this year. The MACH exhibition in April at the NEC Birmingham, seems to be more or less sold out, and looking at some of the new products that are set to be launched there it will certainly be worth a visit. And looking ahead we have Control to look forward to – I am certainly excited about visiting this show for the first time.
I hope I measure up to the challenge of presenting you with the information you need on the latest technologies, news and thinking in the QMT world.
