QMT News: May 2013
Editor’s comment: Innovation is key

This month sees Control 2013, Europe’s largest and most influential quality show taking place  at  Stuttgart’s  Messe, right next to the airport  As always, it will be  the premier event for product launches by quality companies anxious to maximise their marketing impact. Visitors from around the world  will be checking out the latest in  metrology technology and the industry will find time to catch up with developments.

But these are still uncertain times, particularly with the eurozone countries. However, German industrial output unexpectedly rose in March, beating even the highest forecast in a Reuters poll and providing a contrast with other recent data that has painted a much gloomier picture of Europe's largest economy.

The output data comes on the heels of figures showing industry orders rose again in March due to strong euro zone demand and suggests Germany's manufacturing sector, which makes up around one fifth of the economy, has regained momentum. This upturn  may well help the show to have a positive note.

One thing that has not faltered is the quality industry;s commitment to innovation. Lessons have been learnt from previous recessionary cycles where the key to survival and growth come from keeping investment  going. Expect to see plenty of innovation at Control 2013.
See you there.
