More than a decade ago mass spectrometer manufacturer Waters Corporation, introduced high-end metrology equipment to help meet the increasingly rigorous demands of advanced product development and manufacture.
West Yorkshire-based tooling supplier Cutwel has announced an expanded range of new measuring tools for 2015, with catalogues from leading metrology suppliers Mahr and Insize available on request.
Alicona’s new generation of form and roughness measuring device is said to offer significantly faster optical 3D surface metrology, thanks to its 5th generation InfiniteFocus high-resolution optical 3D measurement system. The device is based on the Focus-Variation principle which gives the full functionality of a micro-coordinate measurement system and a roughness measurement device with only one sensor. All surface features are measured with a single multifunctional sensor
Creaform’s new Pipecheck 3.0 is its new and upgraded pipeline integrity assessment software. Combined with the HandySCAN 3D™ handheld laser scanner, the new Pipecheck version can now be used in complex situations that could hardly be addressed before.
Bowers group has launched the Trimos V4 digital height gauge range in the UK. The V4 vertical measuring instruments have been designed to deliver accurate results in both inspection departments and the workshop environment.
Laser Design Inc has introduced anti-reflection coating for achieving optimal accuracy during laser scanning. Reflectivity is detrimental to 3D data acquisition, so it is often necessary to apply an anti-glare coating to objects before 3D scanning. Helling 3D Scan Spray, from Helling GmbH and distributed in North America by Laser Design, provides a thin and uniform adherence to surfaces. This eliminates pooling and clumping that negatively impact scan data accuracy. The spray also washes off easily with water.
Imetrum says its Video Gauge non-contact extensometer is the only video extensometer capable of achieving the exacting requirements of ISO527-1: 2012 ASTM D638 equivalent.
FARO’s Edge ScanArm HD system made its UK debut at the TCT Show at the NEC on September. The company says that the combination of the all-new FARO Laser Line Probe HD high-definition 3D scanner with the flexibility of the FARO Edge measuring arm creates an affordable, high performance contact/non-contact portable measurement system.
The new Verisurf X8 software aims to improve the productivity of stationary coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), portable CMMs and 3D scanners in automated inspection, guided assembly and reverse engineering. Built on a powerful CAD platform, Verisurf X8 provides a variety of manufacturing measurement solutions to meet the needs of the quality lab and in-process applications on the shop floor.
CMM Solutions (UK) Ltd has introduced a new range of specialist measurement machines for the inspection of large gears, bearing rings and shafts as well as a new portable device for inspection of large parts in the production environment.
